Another fire incident took place in the industrial area of Narela, Delhi on 15 October 2025 , where a massive fire broke out in a Cardboard Manufacturing Unit. This whole incident has swallowed the entire structure, exposing major lopholes in safety compliances.

According to Preliminary investigations, fire started due to a short circuit in the luminating section of the factory. However, experts believe that lack of fire supressions systems and storage of flammable chemicals worsened the situation.

It took more than five hours to bring situation under control, and over 18 fire tenders rushed to the scene. In this incident, seven workers lost their lives, while others sustained severe burn injuries. Most of the victims were migrant labourers, who were sleeping on-site after their night shift – a practice which is strictly prohibited under labour and fire safety regulations, but has remained a common practice in small industrial units of Delhi.

The Narela Cardboard Factory Fire Incident reflects the continuing crisis of unregulated industrialisation, persistent in the outer zones of Delhi. Small – scale manufacturers, driven by low costs, often compromise on safety standards, leaving workers in constant danger.

There is an urgent need to call for systematic reforms, i.e. from digitizing factory registrations to real – time inspection monitoring and strict accountability for safety officers. Until or unless such steps will not be enforced,  Narela fire incident will stand as another reminder of how human lives continue to pay the price for industrial greed and administrative neglect.
