Over 100 Cows Die at Gokul Gaushala in Rajasthan

Gokul Gaushala cow deaths have shocked Rajasthan after more than 100 cows died under mysterious circumstances at the Bhompura village shelter in the past week. The Gokul Gaushala cow deaths triggered swift action by the district administration and sparked sharp political reactions.

District Administration Takes Immediate Action

Following reports of the mass deaths, the district administration swung into action. On Thursday afternoon, District Collector Manju visited the Gaushala to assess the situation firsthand. She stated that the matter was being treated with utmost seriousness and emphasized that the state government had already released a grant of ₹64 lakh to the cow shelter during the current year.

Authorities Rule Out Government Negligence

Addressing allegations of official negligence, the Collector clarified that there had been no lapse on the part of the government. However, she acknowledged that the incident raised serious concerns that required a thorough investigation. Officials said accountability would be fixed once the exact cause of the deaths was established.

Fodder Samples Sent for Laboratory Testing

Meanwhile, authorities collected samples of suspicious and spoiled fodder stored at the Gaushala and sent them for laboratory testing. Prima facie assessments suggest that severe cold and contaminated fodder may have contributed to the deaths. Officials cautioned, however, that conclusions would only be drawn after receiving detailed test reports.

Postmortems Conducted Under Official Supervision

During the inspection, a team of veterinarians conducted postmortem examinations of the dead cows in the presence of senior officials, including ADM Ashok Sangwa, SDM Subhash Chandra Chaudhary, and Tehsildar Harshita Midha. Viscera samples were collected and forwarded for forensic examination to determine the precise cause of death.

Special Committee Formed to Monitor Investigation

To ensure close monitoring, the district administration formed a special committee under the supervision of ADM Ashok Sangwa of Anupgarh. The committee will oversee the investigation and ensure that timely action is taken. Additionally, a new executive committee has been constituted to manage the Gaushala and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Collector Slams Gaushala Management for Lapse

The Collector strongly criticized the Gaushala management for failing to inform the administration in time. Calling it a “serious lapse,” she warned that strict action would be taken against any official, employee, or management member found guilty of negligence.

Political Reactions Intensify Over Cow Deaths

The incident has also sparked political reactions, with Opposition leaders accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politicising the issue. Congress district president and MLA Rupinder Singh Kunner demanded strict action and alleged politics in the name of cows. BJP leaders, including district president Sharanpal Singh, also visited the Gaushala and called for an impartial probe into the matter. Follow for more updates, FM News.
