A powerful bomb blast near the historic Red Fort in Delhi sent shockwaves across the nation, reminding everyone of the constant need for alertness and security preparedness. The incident occurred in the evening hours when the area was crowded with tourists, vendors, and commuters.

According to police officials stated the explosion took place near the Lahori Gate entrance, causing panic and chaos among the people present in the vicinity.

According to preliminary investigations by the Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) placed in a vehicle parked near the fort. The intensity of the explosion damaged nearby shops and vehicles, while several people sustained injuries. Emergency services were immediately deployed to the spot, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area, and bomb disposal squads conducted a thorough search to rule out any secondary devices.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terror link. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify suspects. The police have also appealed to citizens to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have strongly condemned the attack, calling it an act of cowardice aimed at disturbing peace and harmony in the capital. They assured that the culprits would be brought to justice at the earliest.

The Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of India’s freedom struggle, has been a high-security zone for years. The blast has once again raised serious concerns about security lapses around important national monuments. This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder that public safety and constant vigilance must remain top priorities for all.
