Amazon Pledges Massive $35 Billion Investment in India’s AI Sector by 2030

The Amazon AI investment in India marks one of the largest commitments by a global tech company toward India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. Amazon announced that it will invest over $35 billion in India’s cloud and AI sectors by 2030, showing its strong confidence in the country’s digital future.

New Investment Builds on Amazon’s Existing $40 Billion Push.

The announcement came during the Amazon Smbhav Summit held in New Delhi on Wednesday. This fresh pledge builds on the nearly $40 billion Amazon has already invested across India over the past 15 years. The company has developed a wide network of fulfillment centers, data centers, logistics operations, and digital payment infrastructure, making India one of its most important global markets.

According to Amazon, the new investment will focus on AI-driven digitization, export expansion, and job creation. The plan aligns with India’s national goals to build a robust local AI ecosystem and accelerate digital transformation across both rural and urban regions.

AI Investment to Generate 1 Million Jobs and Boost Exports

Amazon stated that its new initiative could create one million additional jobs — including direct, indirect, seasonal, and induced employment — by 2030. Beyond job creation, the company expects India’s exports through Amazon to quadruple to $80 billion, highlighting the massive potential for Indian sellers on global marketplaces.

The investment will also help bring AI tools to 15 million small businesses, enabling them to adopt digital solutions, automate workflows, and access global customers with greater ease. Amazon noted that these efforts could significantly boost India’s MSME sector, which is central to the country’s economic growth.

Big Tech Races Into India’s AI Market

Amazon’s announcement comes on the heels of Microsoft’s recent pledge to invest $17.5 billion in India’s AI infrastructure. With both companies intensifying their focus on cloud computing, generative AI, and digital workforce development, India has emerged as a critical AI investment battlefield for global tech giants.

Senior Amazon executive Amit Agarwal said the company feels privileged to support India’s digital progress. “We are humbled to have been part of India’s digital transformation journey over the past 15 years,” he said. “Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue being a catalyst for India’s growth, as we democratize access to AI for millions of Indians.” Follow for more updates,s FM News.
