Dense Fog Triggers Deadly Accidents Across Uttar Pradesh
Dense fog wreaked havoc across several districts of Uttar Pradesh, causing a series of horrific road accidents that claimed 14 lives and left many others injured. Poor visibility combined with high vehicle speeds led to crashes in Mathura, Baghpat, Unnao, and Basti, creating chaos on highways and local roads late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Massive Pile-Up on Yamuna Expressway in Mathura

The deadliest accident occurred in Mathura around 2 a.m. on Monday on the Agra–Noida lane of the Yamuna Expressway. Several vehicles moving at high speed collided in dense fog, resulting in a massive pile-up. Seven buses and two cars caught fire, trapping many passengers inside. Some people jumped out of buses to save their lives amid flames and smoke.
Four Killed, Dozens Injured in Mathura Crash
Authorities confirmed that four people died in the Mathura accident, while more than two dozen people injured were rushed to hospitals. Two of the deceased have been identified so far. Rescue teams worked for hours to control the fire and clear the road. The condition of several injured passengers remains critical.
Chief Minister Orders Compensation and Medical Aid
Following the tragic incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the accident. He directed officials to provide ₹5 lakh financial assistance to the families of the deceased. He also instructed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for all injured victims.
Fortuner Crash in Unnao Kills Four

Another fatal accident occurred in Unnao’s Bangarmau area on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway early Tuesday morning. A Fortuner SUV traveling at around 100 km/h struck a large boulder on the road and overturned. The impact was severe, deploying all airbags in the vehicle and killing four occupants on the spot.
Accident in Basti Leaves Several Critically Injured
In Basti, a serious accident occurred near the Badevan four-lane area around midnight. Several people sustained injuries, and officials reported that the condition of many victims remains critical. Emergency teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Car Plunges into Hindon River in Baghpat
In Baghpat, a police vehicle returning from a raid in Meerut plunged off Balaini Bridge into the Hindon River late Monday night. The accident killed two people, including a head constable, while three others, including another constable, suffered injuries.
Police Recover Bodies and Injured from the River
Police from Balaini and Singhawali Ahir police stations reached the spot and recovered the damaged car from the riverbank.
